The 2016 Conference will be held at the Women’s College at Sydney University.
The Women’s College has over twenty years experience in providing professional conferencing and events facilities and services (including accommodation), within a beautiful heritage environment. The College is ideally situated in mature garden surrounds within The University of Sydney’s Camperdown Campus and only minutes from the city at 15 Carillon Ave, Newtown (see map below).
For your convenience we have compiled a list of alternative accommodation within ten minutes travel to the University of Sydney.
This was the location of the 2008 FAA Conference ‘Pluto into Capricorn’. The location allows for five streams of lectures, great food, accessible outside spaces, economical accommodation that includes breakfast, easy access by public transport, parking onsite, and close by. The Women’s College has been very welcoming and are looking forward to helping us with the event.

The Sydney Women’s College is located at 15 Carillon Ave, Newtown, which is less than 4 kilometres to the west of the Sydney city centre in the grounds of the University of Sydney. The University campus is bordered by two major arterial roads, Parramatta Road (Great Western Highway) and City Road. The College lies on the City Road side of the campus, off Carillon Avenue, Newtown (between City and Missenden Roads).

There is a taxi rank at the airport; you should only use taxis from the taxi rank. Taxis take approximately 20 minutes to reach the city from the airport and cost around $40. Fares in all Sydney taxis are determined by the meter on the dashboard. Passengers pay any bridge or road tolls. A surcharge of 20% of the distance rate can apply between 10pm and 6am. There is a designated taxi area at the airport, please ask and airport employee to direct you to the taxi area.

BY BUS
Several private companies run shuttle services between the Airport and various city hotels and motels. They depart regularly from the front of the terminals and cost around AUD $16–$18 per person one-way. Group booking discounts are usually available. By bus from the City
Take buses 422, 423, 426 & 428 along Castlereagh Street or in front of Central Station. Most bus routes and some bus stops are PrePay only (Opal Card).
Parking at Sydney University
Western Avenue Car park is the closest. Daytime casual parking rates (6am–3pm, Monday to Friday) apply during semesters. Camperdown campuses $24 flat rate (valid to 6am on the next morning).
Evening and weekend casual parking rates (3pm–6am, Monday to Friday; 6am Saturday to 6am Monday)
$6 flat rate (valid to following 6am only)
$2 hourly rate (to maximum $6)
