Practicing Traditional Astrology in the 21st Century: Ethics and Authenticity

Friday 17th January 2025 – 1:45pm – 3pm – Currumbin Room

Recent decades have seen exciting advancements in traditional astrology, but less focus on integrating these techniques into modern practice. Today’s world is radically different to the ancient and medieval world, and today’s clients have different interests and sensibilities compared to those of the past. In this lecture, I’ll share my experiences practicing traditional horary and natal astrology today, discuss the challenges I’ve faced and lessons I’ve learned, and offer some ethical and professional guidelines for bringing traditional astrology to clients in the 21st century.

Locating Lost Pets with Horary Astrology

Saturday 18th January 2025 – 9:15am – 10:30am – Burleigh Room

In 2020 I wrote a blog post about finding a lost cat using horary astrology. Since that time I’ve had many people come to me for help finding their lost pets, with surprisingly successful results. In this lecture I’ll teach you the traditional techniques I’ve used to help my clients find their furry friends, with several example charts from my files. Along the way I’ll also share some of the curious and quirky history of astrologers trying to use astrology to track down stray animals.

Ancient Synastry: Reconstructing the Original System of Relationship Astrology

Sunday 19th January 2025 – 2:45pm – 4pm – Kirra Room

Synastry is the art of comparing two birth charts to determine relationship potential. It is often seen as a modern practice, but it has actually existed for about 2000 years. Yet while traditional astrology has gained considerable interest recently, traditional synastry has been overlooked, largely due to the lack of surviving ancient texts on the subject. In this lecture, I’ll share my years of research to reconstruct the original system of relationship astrology, drawing from the scattered references to synastry in Hellenistic and medieval sources. Come along to learn some easy and effective traditional synastry techniques and see them applied in example charts.
